3,830 COVID-19 Patients Still Active in Public Spaces, Most in Shopping Malls

The Ministry of Health recorded that 3,830 Indonesian citizens who tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus were still active in public spaces as of September 12, 2021. This is because they were flagged as "black" status in the monitoring conducted through the PeduliLindungi application.

PeduliLindungi uses a four-tiered system: green, yellow, red, and black. The "black" status indicates individuals who tested positive for coronavirus and/or have been in close contact with infected patients.

The majority, or 3,224 citizens with "black" status, were detected in the trade sector. This includes 3,161 individuals in malls and mall tenants, and 63 in independent tenants/outlets.

Furthermore, 373 citizens with "black" status were identified in the office/factory sector: 348 in factories and 25 in office buildings.

A total of 126 citizens with "black" status were found in the tourism sector: 15 in hotels, 13 in bars and cafes, 41 in sports venues, 55 in restaurants, and 2 in museums.

There were also 107 citizens with "black" status detected in the transportation sector: 43 at the airport, 1 at the bus terminal, and 63 at the train station.

Meanwhile, no citizens with "black" status were found in the religious or education sectors.

Given this data, the public is urged to remain vigilant against the spread of coronavirus in public spaces. To prevent transmission, the public must diligently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
