With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 180 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Friday, July 1, 2022, shows a national average of 214.81 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Tasikmalaya, Jember, Padang City, Cimahi City, and Batu Bara, with respective figures of 991 people per week, 974 people per week, 971 people per week, 967 people per week, and 947 people per week.
Tasikmalaya ranks first. The number of people tested in the last week was 991 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.2 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Jember. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the last week was 974 per week. The positive rate in this region is 1.23 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Padang City, with a population of 997,360, recorded 971 Covid-19 tests per week; Cimahi City recorded 967 tests per week; and Batu Bara recorded 947 Covid-19 tests per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 194 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week than before. Meanwhile, 173 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested in the last week include Padang City, Batu Bara, and Banjarmasin City, with 971, 947, and 945 people tested in the last week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
