The Indonesian government continues to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccination program, including the administration of third doses or booster shots.
However, the progress of booster vaccinations in Indonesia is still relatively slow compared to several other Southeast Asian countries.
According to Our World in Data, the booster vaccination ratio in Indonesia was 13.55 per 100 people as of May 11, 2022. This figure places Indonesia sixth in Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, Singapore has the highest booster vaccination ratio in Southeast Asia, at 73.88 per 100 people.
Brunei Darussalam ranks second with a booster vaccination ratio of 64.07 per 100 people.
Next is Cambodia with a booster vaccination ratio of 50.77 per 100 people, followed by Malaysia and Thailand with ratios of 48.98 and 37.95 per 100 people, respectively.
Below Indonesia are the Philippines and Timor-Leste, with booster vaccination ratios of 12.17 and 5.11 per 100 people, respectively.
Meanwhile, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam are not included in the report.
Booster vaccinations are crucial in preventing severe infection and death from Covid-19.
In addition to vaccination, the public is still urged to adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
