At that time, Balikpapan's air quality was categorized as good, meaning the level of pollutants in the air was very minimal. Kupang was second with an air quality index of 34. Denpasar followed in third place with an air quality index of 35.
Below is a complete list of the 10 cities with the cleanest air quality in Indonesia according to the KLHK on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 6:00 AM WIB.

2. Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara): 34
3. Denpasar (Bali): 35
4. Banjar Baru (South Kalimantan): 52
5. Mataram (West Nusa Tenggara): 54
6. Manado (North Sulawesi): 68
7. Jakarta (Jakarta Special Capital Region): 103
While the air quality in these cities is among the cleanest in Indonesia, not all cities have good air quality.
Based on the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 14 of 2020 concerning the Air Pollutant Standard Index, the KLHK classifies the air quality index as follows:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
This means that on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 6:00 AM WIB, the cities with good air quality were Balikpapan, Kupang, and Denpasar. Three other cities, namely Banjar Baru, Mataram, and Manado, had moderate air quality.
