Based on national Covid-19 data, 146 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, December 28, 2022, shows a national average of 0.41 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week are: Central Jakarta (4.07 people), Balikpapan (4.04 people), South Jakarta (3.84 people), East Jakarta (2.89 people), and North Jakarta (2.68 people).
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the number of people tested is 4.07 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 3.36 percent, lower than the previous week.
Balikpapan is next. With a population of 646,020, the number of people tested is 4.04 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate is 0.65 percent, higher than the previous week.
Following this, the number of people tested was 3.84 per 1,000 people per week in South Jakarta, 2.89 per 1,000 people per week in East Jakarta, and 2.68 per 1,000 people per week in North Jakarta.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows that 121 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 198 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.04 people), Gunungsitoli (2.53 people), and Mimika (2.25 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
