Based on Worldometer data, the trend of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continued to increase until Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Patients requiring hospitalization and self-isolation (active cases) reached 11% of the total cases.
Currently, there are at least 239,368 active cases in Indonesia. The increasing number of COVID-19 cases is directly proportional to the dwindling bed occupancy rate (BOR) in hospitals. In Jakarta, for example, the BOR of referral hospitals reached 93%, while intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy was 87% as of June 28, 2021.
Meanwhile, active COVID-19 cases in India are slowly decreasing. The number of patients requiring treatment and self-isolation in India is 529,580 cases. Although still the highest in Asia, the proportion of active cases in India is 1.7% of the total cases.
Iran follows with 243,465 active cases. The number of active cases is equivalent to 7.6% of the total national cases.
The government continues to urge the public to comply with health protocols to suppress the spread of the coronavirus. The public is urged to always wash their hands with soap, wear masks, maintain distance, avoid crowds, and reduce mobility.
