Based on national Covid-19 data, 168 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Friday, April 1, 2022, shows a national average of 1.58 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (13.08 people), Central Jakarta (12.04 people), Badung (11.8 people), Balikpapan (9.78 people), and Bontang (8.5 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 13.08 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 3.51 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 12.04 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 3.04 percent, also down from the previous week.
Following are Badung (population 727,950) with 11.8 tests per 1,000 people per week; Balikpapan with 9.78 tests per 1,000 people per week; and Bontang (population 185,460) with 8.5 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 106 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Meanwhile, 256 other regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Badung (11.8 people), Balikpapan (9.78 people), and Bontang (8.5 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also helps curb the spread of the coronavirus.
