Based on national Covid-19 data, 195 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. As of Saturday, April 16, 2022, the national average was 168.76 percent. This achievement is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting with the highest weekly testing percentage, are Teluk Wondama (900%), Tarakan City (871.43%), Berau (858.4%), Manokwari (834.86%), and Jayapura City (830.84%).
Teluk Wondama ranks first. With a population of 34,898, its weekly testing percentage is recorded at 900 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.32 percent, lower than the previous week's ratio.
Next is Tarakan City. With a population of 267,270, its weekly testing percentage in efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic reached 871.43 percent. The positive rate is 0.13 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Following this, Berau, with a population of 236,590, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 858.4 percent; Manokwari, 834.86 percent; and Jayapura City, 830.84 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 108 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 275 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Teluk Wondama, Tarakan City, and Berau, with percentages of 900 percent, 871.43 percent, and 858.4 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
