According to a report from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), there have been 45 cases of measles outbreaks (KLB) since the beginning of the year until March 2, 2026. These cases are spread across 29 districts/cities in 11 provinces of Indonesia.
In response to this situation, the Acting Director General of Disease Control at Kemenkes, Andi Saguni, urged the public to be vigilant against the transmission of measles during the homecoming and Eid holiday periods.
The increasing mobility of the population and potential crowds are seen as increasing the risk of disease transmission, especially among children who have not received complete immunization.
"Kemenkes and other parties have provided immediate responses to areas affected by measles outbreaks through outbreak response immunization and catch-up campaigns," said Andi at a press conference on Friday (March 6, 2026).
As of March 2, 2026, Kemenkes has identified 10,453 suspected measles cases. Of these, 8,272 cases have been verified, resulting in 6 deaths.
The most measles outbreaks were recorded in West Sumatra, which has 14 areas with such cases.
