During Ramadan, vertigo is one of the most common disorders due to changes in the vestibular system, which is the system in the inner ear and brain that regulates body balance.
This is reflected in Halodoc's report. Vertigo consultations on the telemedicine app increased by 100% in the first week of fasting compared to the weekly average in the period before Ramadan.
"This indicates that changes in sleep patterns and dehydration at the beginning of fasting directly affect the body's balance system," explained Halodoc in the Indonesia Health Insights Q1 2026.
The growth in vertigo consultations, according to Halodoc, did not significantly decrease after the first week of fasting. In fact, the growth in consultations remained high until the fourth week of Ramadan.
The details of the weekly growth in vertigo consultations on Halodoc during Ramadan 2025 can be seen as follows:
- Week 1: 100%
- Week 2: 86%
- Week 3: 95%
- Week 4: 63%
"This shows that vestibular disorders are not just a temporary adaptation phase, but a reflection of the recurring fatigue and sleep deprivation during Ramadan," he said.
Halodoc obtained these data from an analysis of health service interactions on their app, including doctor consultations, purchases of health products, and homecare services.
The entire analysis focused on patients aged 12 and above, covering the population from all regions of Indonesia.
