According to data from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the number of people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in Jakarta was 37,581 in 2024.
This number decreased from the previous year, which reached 82,673, or a reduction of approximately 54.54%.
However, the number of people with HIV/AIDS in Jakarta in 2024 surged by 528.23% compared to the 2022 data of 5,982 people.
To prevent the virus, one of the measures taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government is to conduct "Aku Bangga Aku Tahu" (ABAT) education for young people aged 15-24 years.
In 2024, the number of ABAT participants in Jakarta reached 17,015, up 19.93% compared to the previous year's 14,187.
However, this number is significantly lower than the 2022 achievement of 94,303 people.
The area with the highest increase in the number of ABAT participants was East Jakarta, which increased by 5,206 people year-on-year (YoY) or 143.18%.
"Meanwhile, in terms of percentage, North Jakarta had the largest increase at 176.76%," wrote the Jakarta Provincial Government in its report.
