According to data from the West Sumatra Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the percentage of households with access to adequate sanitation in Solok Selatan Regency has never exceeded 60% in the last 10 years.
The concept of adequate sanitation from BPS refers to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where a household is considered to have access to adequate sanitation services if it has a toilet facility.
This facility can be used individually or shared with a limited number of households, or in a communal toilet (MCK), using a siphon toilet, and with final disposal of feces in a septic tank or wastewater treatment plant (IPAL), or a pit latrine if located in a rural area.
In Solok Selatan Regency, the percentage of households with access to adequate sanitation in 2015 was only 16.52%. Until 2020, this percentage showed an upward trend.
However, from 2021 to 2023, a downward trend occurred. Only in 2024 did the percentage increase compared to the previous year, reaching 56.71%.
Despite the increase in 2024, overall, from 2015 to 2024, the percentage of households with access to adequate sanitation in Solok Selatan Regency never exceeded 60%.
