The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported that the number of patients with atypical progressive acute kidney injury (GGAPA) has increased to 304 as of October 31, 2022.
The details are as follows: 173 patients aged 1-5 years, 46 patients aged 0-1 years, 43 patients aged 6-10 years, and 42 patients aged 11-18 years.
By gender, 59% of acute kidney injury patients were male and 41% were female.
Of the 304 patients, 159 (52.3%) died, 99 (32.57%) recovered, and 46 (15.13%) are still hospitalized.
The highest number of deaths from acute kidney injury occurred in the 1-5 year age group, reaching 106 cases. This was followed by the 6-10 year age group with 23 deaths, the 0-1 year age group with 21 deaths, and the 11-18 year age group with 9 deaths.
The Kemenkes spokesperson, dr. Muhammad Syahril, stated that the Kemenkes continues to implement anticipatory policies to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates due to GGAPA in Indonesia. One of these policies is importing hundreds of vials of the antidote Fomepizole injection from Singapore, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
"146 vials have been distributed to 17 hospitals in 11 provinces, while 100 vials are stored as stock in the central pharmacy facility," said Syahril.
