Indonesia's Daily Covid-19 Deaths Reach Record High in the Last Two Days

On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the number of deaths in Indonesia due to the Covid-19 coronavirus reached 1,280. This figure is the second highest throughout the coronavirus pandemic in the country. The highest record of coronavirus deaths in Indonesia occurred the day before, at 1,338.

The number of deaths due to the coronavirus continues to increase. The number, which was in the range of 400-500 cases per day at the beginning of July 2021, rose to 800-900 cases per day in the middle of the same month. Daily death cases exceeded 1,000 since July 16, 2021.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths nationwide is now recorded at 76,200. This number ranks third highest in Asia, only below India and Iran with 418,511 and 87,624 respectively.

To suppress the number of deaths, the government prevented the spread of the coronavirus through the implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) from July 3-20, 2021. This policy has been extended until July 25, 2021.

The public can also play a role in preventing the spread of the coronavirus by diligently implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
