Katadata Insight Center (KIC) and tSurvei conducted a survey on the behavior of Indonesians in visiting malls at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025.
The findings show that invitations from friends and relatives were the most influential factor in encouraging people to visit malls, as cited by a majority (73%) of the 268 respondents.
Meanwhile, 43% of respondents visited malls due to improved mall facilities, such as better rest areas, children's amenities, and others.
Other external factors included interesting events or community activities (40%), changes in the mall’s image or reputation (13%), and improved transportation access to the mall (13%), among others.
