According to data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), 67,030 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) have been recorded in Indonesia from the beginning of the year to June 12, 2025.
Of these cases, 297 resulted in death. The national case fatality rate (CFR) for DHF during this period reached 0.44%.
The highest number of DHF deaths was recorded in West Java, with 61 deaths. This was followed by East Java and Central Java with 57 and 53 deaths respectively.
According to Fadjar SM Silalahi, Head of the Arbovirosis Working Team at the Ministry of Health's Directorate of Infectious Diseases, areas with high population density and mobility tend to have a high number of DBD deaths.
"So dengue is related to, besides climate, also urbanization, it's definitely linked," said Fadjar at the 2025 National Dengue Program Meeting in Jakarta on Thursday (June 19, 2025).
The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest number of DHF deaths in Indonesia from the beginning of the year to June 12, 2025:
1. West Java: 61 deaths
2. East Java: 57 deaths
3. Central Java: 53 deaths
4. Lampung: 19 deaths
5. Riau: 17 deaths
6. Bali: 11 deaths
7. West Nusa Tenggara (NTB): 9 deaths
8. South Sumatra: 7 deaths
9. South Sulawesi: 7 deaths
10. West Sumatra: 6 deaths
To date, there have been no reported DHF deaths in Jakarta, West Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, South Kalimantan, Papua, West Papua, Southwest Papua, South Papua, and Highland Papua provinces.
