Based on national Covid-19 data, 141 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Tuesday, December 27, 2022, shows a national average of 0.43 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are: Central Jakarta (4.23 people), South Jakarta (3.98 people), Balikpapan (3.85 people), East Jakarta (2.99 people), and North Jakarta (2.76 people).
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the number of people tested was 4.23 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 3.23 percent. The positive rate in this area has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 3.98 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this area is 3.7 percent, also down from the previous week.
Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded 3.85 Covid-19 tests per 1,000 people per week. East Jakarta recorded 2.99 tests per 1,000 people per week, and North Jakarta recorded 2.76 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 90 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 234 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.85 people), Gunungsitoli (2.58 people), and Badung (2.32 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
