Using the Henley Opportunity Index, Henley & Partners assessed countries deemed to offer better work and living opportunities in 2025.
The Henley Opportunity Index ranks countries based on several indicators: premium education, job prospects, earning potential, career progression, economic mobility, and livability.
Switzerland ranks first with a score of 84%. This comprises: earning potential (100 points), career progression (81), top-tier job prospects (85), premium education (73), economic mobility (92), and livability (75).
The research team notes that Switzerland offers investment options developed by Henley & Partners, combining private residences with Swiss forfait tax provisions.
According to ITR, the advantage of the Swiss forfait tax is that taxes are not calculated based on the real income and wealth of its citizens, but on living expenses or the amount of national income and wealth.
Second is Singapore, the only Southeast Asian country in the top 10, with a score of 79%. "Singapore's Global Investor Programme is very popular among ultra-high-net-worth families, and the country has been recognized as a world-class education destination," wrote the Henley team, as quoted on Thursday, March 26, 2025.
Third is the United States (US) with a total score of 78%, followed by Australia and Canada with scores of 76% and 73% respectively.
The top 10 also includes Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Austria, New Zealand, and Italy.
The Henley team states that this survey's indicators serve as a benchmark for investors, entrepreneurs, and wealthy families seeking to identify locations offering environments conducive to growth and maximizing their career and income potential. This is because they want the next generation to have the best environment and experiences.
