This year, the West Java Provincial Government has again launched a motor vehicle tax amnesty program.
The Head of the West Java Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Dedi Taufik, stated that this amnesty is a follow-up to the instruction of the West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi.
"Ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2025, the West Java Governor announced the exemption of all outstanding motor vehicle taxes and fines for 2024 and previous years," said Dedi Taufik, as reported by *JabarEkspres.com* on Wednesday (19/3/2025).
To receive the tax amnesty, vehicle owners in West Java must renew their vehicle taxes for the current year 2025, without having to pay arrears and fines from previous years.
This amnesty is valid for the tax payment period of March 20 to June 6, 2025. Payments can be made through the Sapawarga application, but still require direct verification at the Samsat office.
"This program aims to make it easier for the public to fulfill their motor vehicle tax obligations and increase tax compliance. With this program, vehicle ownership data is expected to be more orderly and accurate," said Dedi Taufik.
The West Java Provincial Government has indeed quite often implemented motor vehicle tax amnesty programs.
This program has been routinely implemented every year since at least 2018. Along with this, the trend of vehicle tax revenue in West Java has been recorded as increasing.
According to Bapenda data, in 2016, motor vehicle taxes paid through E-Samsat in West Java were only Rp 8.16 billion.
After that, the value increased to reach hundreds of billions of rupiah per year. However, in 2024, the revenue decreased compared to 2023, as shown in the graph.
