An Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) poll shows that 74.6% of respondents are aware of the tin governance corruption case involving Harvey Moeis, husband of actress Sandra Dewi, with estimated losses of Rp 300 trillion.
Some respondents also reported knowing that the court sentenced Harvey Moeis to 6.5 years imprisonment and a Rp 1 billion fine, or an additional 6 months imprisonment if the fine was not paid.
Specifically, 58.7% of all respondents were aware of the sentence. Meanwhile, 76.8% of those aware of the tin governance corruption case involving Harvey were also aware of the sentence.
Among all respondents, and those aware of Harvey's case, the majority felt the sentence was not commensurate with his actions.
This comprised 64.4% of all respondents and 72% of those aware of the case.
Those who felt the sentence was insufficiently commensurate comprised 24.9% of all respondents and 23.8% of those aware of the case.
However, 4% of all respondents and 2% of those aware of the case considered the sentence commensurate.
A further 1.4% of all respondents and 0.9% of those aware of the case considered the sentence very commensurate.
The remaining 5.3% of all respondents and 1.3% of those aware of the case responded "don't know/didn't answer."
The LSI survey involved 1,220 Indonesian citizens with voting rights in general elections – those aged 17 or older, or married at the time of the survey.
The sample was selected using multistage random sampling, distributed across all Indonesian provinces proportionally. The margin of error for this sample is 2.9% at a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.
Selected respondents were interviewed face-to-face by trained interviewers from January 20 to 28, 2025.
