The Indonesian Political Indicator Survey shows that a majority, or 83.9% of respondents, rate the quality of Indonesian national football team players as good in various competitions they participate in.
Details show that 13.1% of respondents stated "very good" and 70.8% answered "good."
This achievement is an increase from a perception survey conducted in October 2024. At that time, the performance of the Indonesian national team was rated as good by 80.3% of respondents.
"We found convincing evidence that public evaluation of the federation's (PSSI) performance and items related to football have seen a positive increase in December (2024)," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Principal Researcher at Indonesian Political Indicator, in an online presentation of his survey on Thursday (16/1/2025).
Meanwhile, 4.7% still rated the national football team's performance as less than good or not good at all. Furthermore, 11.4% did not know or did not answer.
On the other hand, the Indikator survey also asked the public's opinion on which is more important: players or coaches. This coincides with PSSI's recent replacement of coach Shin Tae-yong with Patrick Kluivert on Sunday (12/1/2025).
As a result, 44.3% of respondents considered the quality of players more important than the coach. 24.8% stated the opposite, and 23.2% opined that the quality of both players and coaches are equally important.
This survey involved 1,220 respondents spread across Indonesia, with criteria of being over 17 years old or married. Respondents were selected using a multistage random sampling method.
Data collection was conducted from December 22-28, 2024, through face-to-face interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
