Pinhome's research with YouGov recorded several considerations of the sandwich generation in choosing property.
The sandwich generation refers to individuals who bear the financial burden of two generations: their parents and their children.
The Pinhome survey shows that housing with health facilities is the top priority for 64% of respondents.
This is followed by proximity to the office (62%), and environmental security and comfort (60%).
"When choosing a home, the sandwich generation shows a clear preference for factors that support their family's well-being," wrote Pinhome in its *Pinhome Exclusive Report October 2024: The Sandwich Generation's Steps Towards Property Ownership*.
Furthermore, 48% of sandwich generation respondents prioritized properties that fit their budget.
Other considered aspects include proximity to educational facilities, shopping centers, move-in ready condition, public transportation, recreational facilities, and high resale value, with proportions as shown in the graph.
Note that this survey used multiple-answer questions, allowing respondents to select more than one answer.
The Pinhome and YouGov survey was conducted online, involving 400 respondents aged 18 and above. Respondents consisted of 200 homeowners who purchased a home in the last year and 200 prospective homebuyers within the next year.
