Data as of Monday, March 6, 2023, shows a national average testing rate of 9.32 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting with the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Balikpapan City (272.98%), Indragiri Hulu (256.25%), Purwakarta (228.99%), Sikka (163.98%), and Tarakan City (145.49%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 649,420, the weekly percentage of people tested is 272.98 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.17 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Indragiri Hulu. The population of this region is 453,480. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 256.25 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0 percent, a decrease from the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Purwakarta recorded 228.99 percent, Sikka recorded 163.98 percent, and Tarakan City recorded 145.49 percent for the weekly percentage of people tested.
In anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 174 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher weekly percentage of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 153 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly percentage of people tested compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly percentage of people tested include Balikpapan City, Indragiri Hulu, and Sikka, with weekly percentages of 272.98 percent, 256.25 percent, and 163.98 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
