The Indonesian Ministry of Health recorded a total of 518,310 active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia as of Thursday, August 5, 2021. These active cases are fairly evenly distributed across various provinces.
The active cases of this disease caused by the coronavirus are widely spread across five provinces in Java and outside Java. In Java, the highest number is in West Java Province with 111,462 active cases, or 21.5% of the total active cases in Indonesia.
Central Java is still treating 51,356 patients due to coronavirus infection. This number is not significantly different from East Java, which has 47,875 cases, followed by Yogyakarta with 38,342 cases and Banten with 26,925 cases.
Meanwhile, the highest number of active Covid-19 cases outside Java is in East Kalimantan with a total of 22,529 active cases and North Sumatra with 21,876 cases. Other provinces, namely Papua, West Sumatra, and Riau, recorded active cases in the range of 13-14 thousand cases.
Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta has dropped out of the top 10 provinces with the most active cases. The total number of active cases in the capital city is 13,877, continuing a downward trend since mid-July 2021.
To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the public must diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
