Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 159 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Wednesday, December 7, 2022, shows the national average of examinations recorded at 159.65 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of people tested per week, are Lampung Barat (992 people), Sukabumi (986 people), Serang (965 people), Pasuruan (943 people), and Bantul (941 people).
Lampung Barat ranks first. With a population of 309,510, the number of people tested in the last week was 992 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.11 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Sukabumi. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the last week was 986 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 3.85 percent, which has also decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Serang recorded 965 people tested per week, Pasuruan recorded 943 people tested per week, and Bantul recorded 941 people tested per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 181 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report the number of people tested daily in the last week with higher figures than before. Meanwhile, 179 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week's examination.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested in the last week include Lampung Barat, Palangkaraya City, and Indragiri Hulu, with 992, 925, and 757 people tested in the last week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission in some areas has decreased, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
