COVID-19 statistics in Europe this week still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 21 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 14 other countries recorded deaths but in smaller numbers.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Montenegro, the Netherlands, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Lithuania. The total deaths in these five countries as of Friday, July 1, 2022, amounted to 681, with a weekly growth exceeding 120 percent.
Montenegro recorded the highest increase in deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 500 percent. In this country, Worldometer recorded six deaths, an increase compared to the previous week, which reported only one death.
The Netherlands followed with a weekly growth in deaths reaching 250 percent. Meanwhile, the daily death toll in this country increased by 27.27% compared to the previous day, which recorded 22 deaths.
Next, Germany with 629 deaths (up 134.7%), deaths in Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 133.33%, and deaths in Lithuania increased by 120%.
Looking at the number of death reports, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Germany with 629 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 134.7% compared to the previous week. Following with the highest numbers is the United Kingdom with 471 deaths (up 21.71%), Russia with 401 deaths (down 9.07%), Italy with 386 deaths (up 10.29%), and France with 265 deaths (down 2.57%).
Total deaths in Europe over the last seven days were recorded at 2,934. This figure accounts for 31.26 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 9,386 deaths. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 2,577 deaths.
