COVID-19 Cases Increase by 1,639 (Saturday, October 1st)

On October 1, 2022, there was an increase of 1,639 confirmed Covid-19 cases. With this addition, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia has reached 6,433,263.

A total of 6,257,444 patients have recovered, and 158,122 have died.

The government urges the public to more actively implement health protocols due to the increasing spread of the Omicron variant in Indonesia. This variant is feared to cause a wider and more difficult-to-control spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia, especially considering that the positive rate had decreased in most regions earlier this year.

Previously, during the first wave of Covid-19 last year, the highest daily increase in cases was recorded on July 15, 2021, at 56,757 cases. With the emergence of the Omicron variant, this record was broken twice in February, with 57,049 cases on February 15th and 64,718 cases on February 16th.
