This week's COVID-19 statistics in Asia still depict a concerning situation compared to the previous week, due to the continued increase in the number of deaths. This week, 30 countries recorded an increase in deaths, while 10 other countries recorded deaths, but in smaller numbers.
Percentage-wise, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Armenia, Israel, Oman, Japan, and Indonesia. The total deaths in these five countries as of Friday, February 4, 2022, amounted to 1,011, with a weekly growth exceeding 141.94 percent.
Armenia recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in Asia, with weekly growth reaching 233.33 percent. In this country, Worldometer recorded 30 deaths, an increase of 11.11 percent compared to the previous day.
Israel follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, deaths in this country grew by 204.67 percent. The number of deaths in this country was reported as 457. Daily statistics show a 10.39% increase in deaths compared to the previous day, which was 414.
Next, deaths in Oman increased by 166.67%, Japan recorded 350 deaths (up 146.48%), and deaths in Indonesia increased by 141.94%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Asia occurred in India, with 7,731 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 96.52% compared to the previous week. Following India, Turkey recorded 1,403 deaths (up 12.96%), Vietnam recorded 772 deaths (down 24.68%), Israel recorded 457 deaths (up 204.67%), and the Philippines recorded 435 deaths (down 25.39%).
The total number of deaths in Asia over the last seven days was recorded at 13,820. This accounts for 19.73 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 70,044 deaths. The number of deaths in Asia increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation, which was 9,052.
