The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 5.82 million cases by Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Saudi Arabia recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 72.22 percent. GISAID recorded 248 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 3.77 percent compared to the previous day.
Following Saudi Arabia is the Philippines, in second place. Compared to the previous week, Omicron cases in the Philippines increased by 22.59 percent, with 11,055 new cases reported. Daily statistics show a 0.35 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, totaling 11,016 cases.
Next, Peru saw a 4.19 percent increase in Omicron cases, reaching 19,776 compared to the previous week. Croatia (Hrvatska) reported 20,054 new Omicron cases (a 3.97 percent increase), and Indonesia saw a 3.67 percent increase, reaching 26,227 cases compared to the previous week.
As for Indonesia, the number of new Omicron cases reached 26,227, a 0.24 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
