Based on national Covid-19 data, 141 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Monday, September 12, 2022, shows a national average of 0.51 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, ranked from highest to lowest number of people tested per 1000 people per week, are: South Jakarta (5.59 people), Central Jakarta (5.29 people), West Jakarta (3.89 people), Balikpapan (3.82 people), and South Tangerang (3.76 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 5.59 people tested per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 9.43 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 5.29 people per 1000 people per week were tested. The positive rate is 10.09 percent, also down from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in West Jakarta recorded 3.89 people per 1000 people per week; Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded 3.82 people per 1000 people per week; and South Tangerang recorded 3.76 people per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 138 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 179 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.82 people), Teluk Bintuni (3.12 people), and Badung (3.1 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
