Based on national Covid data recapitulation, 143 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Friday, February 17, 2023, shows a national average of 113.51 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Medan (965 people), Kediri (914 people), Sleman (911 people), Garut (904 people), and Semarang (881 people).
Medan ranks first, with 965 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.41 percent, an increase compared to the previous week.
Next is Kediri, with 914 people tested per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate is 0.55 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following this, Sleman conducted 911 tests per week, Garut 904 tests per week, and Semarang 881 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid data recapitulation, 74 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 97 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests per week include Medan (965 people), Sikka (851 people), and Makassar (682 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
