From a wide range of choices, plain water turned out to be the most consumed beverage by Indonesian citizens during both *sahur* (pre-dawn meal) and breaking of the *puasa* (fast). This is in line with the findings of a survey conducted by the Kurious-Katadata Insight Center (KIC) last March.
Plain water was consumed by 78% of respondents during *sahur*, while 73.8% consumed it during the breaking of the fast.
Tea was the second most consumed beverage, with 46.1% of respondents consuming it during *sahur* and 56.1% during the breaking of the fast.

The Kurious-KIC survey involved 599 respondents spread across various regions of Indonesia, with 48.2% male respondents and 52.8% female respondents.
More than half of the respondents were from Java Island excluding Jakarta (63.8%), followed by Jakarta (15.7%), and Sumatra (10.4%). Respondents from Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.3% to 4.3%.
Most respondents were aged between 35-44 years (33.4%), followed by the 25-34 year age group (29.9%) and the 45-54 year age group (20.2%).
The survey was conducted from March 24-31, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 4% and a 95% confidence level.
