Sudan recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Africa, with weekly growth reaching 700 percent. Worldometer recorded eight deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's single death.
Togo follows with a 100 percent weekly increase in deaths. The country reported two deaths, compared to one the previous week.
Rounding out the top five, Morocco saw a 50% decrease in deaths, while Tunisia and Zimbabwe each recorded 0 deaths (a 100% decrease).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the past seven days in Africa occurred in Sudan with eight deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 700% compared to the previous week. Following Sudan, Togo recorded two deaths (a 100% increase), Morocco recorded one death (a 50% decrease), and Tunisia and Zimbabwe each recorded zero deaths (a 100% decrease).
Total deaths in Africa over the past seven days were recorded at 11. This accounts for 0.14 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 7,892. The number of deaths in Africa decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 16 deaths.
