Based on national Covid-19 data, 156 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Thursday, December 29, 2022, shows a national average of 0.4 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta, with 3.91, 3.84, 3.65, 2.78, and 2.46 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Central Jakarta ranks first. With a population of 913,720, the number of people tested was 3.91 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 3.39 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Balikpapan. With a population of 646,020, the number of people tested was 3.84 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate was 0.68 percent, up from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in South Jakarta recorded 3.65 per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta recorded 2.78 per 1,000 people per week, and North Jakarta recorded 2.46 per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 101 regencies/cities actively reporting a higher daily number of tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 225 other regencies/cities reported a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.84 tests per 1,000 people per week), Gunungsitoli (2.16), and Mimika (2.12).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
