Unwilling to be caught off guard and continuing efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, currently 119 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, June 11, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 59.52 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, Badung, and East Jakarta, with ratios of 729.74 percent, 698.8 percent, 663.51 percent, 556.18 percent, and 472.07 percent, respectively.
South Jakarta ranks first. The weekly percentage of people tested there is recorded at 729.74 percent. The latest positive rate is 2.34 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Central Jakarta. The population of this region is recorded at 913,720 people. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 698.8 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.15 percent, also an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Balikpapan recorded 663.51 percent testing, Badung, with a population of 727,950 people, recorded a weekly percentage of people tested at 556.18 percent, and another region recorded a weekly percentage of people tested at 472.07 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 216 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily weekly percentage of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 155 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly percentage of people tested compared to the previous week's testing.
Regions outside Java with the highest weekly percentage of people tested include Balikpapan, Badung, and Mimika, with weekly percentages of 663.51 percent, 556.18 percent, and 445.54 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
