Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 158 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, June 18, 2022, shows a national average of 175.38 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Mataram City (990 specimens), Blora (981 specimens), Banyuwangi (954 specimens), Kediri (953 specimens), and Mimika (945 specimens).
Mataram City ranks first. With a population of 527,540, the number of specimens examined there is recorded at 990 per week. The latest positive rate is 1.38 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Blora. The population of this region is recorded at 866,140. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of specimens examined was 981 per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.1 percent, also an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Banyuwangi recorded 954 specimens per week examined; Kediri recorded 953 specimens per week examined; and Mimika recorded 945 specimens per week examined.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 151 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 157 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Mataram City, Mimika, and Deli Serdang, with 990, 945, and 938 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
