The progress of the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, also known as the booster, in Indonesia is relatively slow.
Quoting data from the Ministry of Health's vaccination dashboard, as of 12:00 WIB on July 26, 2022, booster vaccination coverage had only reached 54.9 million doses, or 26.38% of the national Covid-19 vaccination target.
West Sulawesi is recorded as the province with the fewest booster vaccine recipients in Indonesia, with a total of 94,500 people.
Above it is West Papua with 110,900 third-dose vaccinations. Following are North Kalimantan and North Maluku, with 129,400 and 132,600 booster vaccinations respectively.
West Java still has the highest booster vaccination coverage, reaching 13.3 million people as of today.
The Government Spokesperson for Covid-19 Handling, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, emphasized that the Covid-19 vaccine is as important as wearing a mask. He stated that the vaccine will protect the community comprehensively by increasing community immunity.
"However, since it began in January 2022, the progress of booster vaccinations has been slower compared to doses 1 and 2," said Wiku.
