The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 143 districts/cities with a number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population/week above the national average, which is currently recorded at 3.35 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Saturday, April 9, 2022).
The five districts/cities with the highest number of confirmed positive cases, exceeding 33.44 per 100,000 population/week, are Mahakam Ulu (59.65 per 100,000 population/week), Barito Timur (42.92 per 100,000 population/week), South Jakarta (41.74 per 100,000 population/week), Jayawijaya (37.87 per 100,000 population/week), and South Tangerang (33.44 per 100,000 population/week).
A recapitulation of national COVID-19 data from the Ministry of Health shows that the number of confirmed positive cases in most districts/cities outside Java has begun to decline. However, 74 districts/cities recorded a higher number of daily confirmed positive cases than before, while 104 districts/cities recorded a lower number.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of confirmed positive cases include Mahakam Ulu (59.65 per 100,000 population/week), Barito Timur (42.92 per 100,000 population/week), and Jayawijaya (37.87 per 100,000 population/week).
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
