The Jember District Health Office (Dinkes) reported 2,691 patients with mental disorders (ODGJ) in Jember from January to October 2023.
The details show that 2,691 individuals were diagnosed with F20 (paranoid schizophrenia) and 962 with F32 (mild depressive disorder).
Based on age, the majority of ODGJ patients in Jember District were of working age (18-59 years).
A total of 2,513 patients, or 93.38% of the total ODGJ patients in Jember during that period, fell within this age range.
The lowest number of ODGJ patients was in the young age group (under 18 years), with only 49 patients, representing 1.82% of the total.
Finally, there were 129 patients aged 60 and above, accounting for 4.7%.
Head of Disease Control and Eradication (P2P) at Jember Dinkes, Rita Wahyuningsih, explained that the number of unrestrained ODGJ patients in Jember is significantly higher than those who are restrained.
"The number of restrained patients is very small, only 2%, while the others are already unrestrained (65.2%)," Rita stated in an online webinar on Mental Health with the Indonesian Ministry of Health on Monday, October 23, 2023.
To maintain mental health, Jember Dinkes is undertaking several initiatives, including improving the quality of life for the community.
"For our services, we also focus on ODMK (Individuals with Mental Health Problems) and ODGJ in accordance with human rights, and the availability of mental health resources," Rita explained.
