The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that there were 865 four-star hotels in Indonesia throughout 2023. This number represents 20.94% of the total number of star-rated hotels in Indonesia last year, which was 4,129.
Bali had the highest number of four-star hotels in Indonesia in 2023, with 167 hotels, or 19.3% of the total national number of four-star hotels last year.
West Java ranked second with 127 four-star hotels. This was followed by DKI Jakarta and East Java, each with 80 and 75 four-star hotels respectively.
Meanwhile, West Sulawesi was the only province in Indonesia recorded as having no four-star hotels.
Furthermore, the provinces with the fewest four-star hotels in Indonesia were North Maluku, Bengkulu, and Aceh. Each of these three provinces only had three four-star hotels last year.
