Makassar residents spend Rp157.18 per capita per week on shelled peanuts.

In Makassar City in 2023, per capita weekly expenditure on unshelled peanuts was Rp157.18. This represents a decrease compared to the previous year's expenditure of Rp163.54 per capita per week.

The top five expenditures for legumes in Makassar City, ranked from highest to lowest, were: tempeh at Rp1,253.48 per capita per week, tofu at Rp1,077.58 per capita per week, unshelled peanuts at Rp157.18 per capita per week, other beans at Rp42.06 per capita per week, and soybeans at Rp3.18 per capita per week (the lowest).

Per capita average expenditure refers to the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, including purchases, gifts, and self-produced goods, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is categorized into food and non-food consumption, regardless of the origin of goods, and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to others.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The per capita average consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and not) by the total population.

According to Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) data, the average per capita expenditure in Makassar City reached Rp1.87 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 11.47% compared to March 2022, which was Rp1.68 million per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest per capita expenditure on unshelled peanuts was in Maybrat Regency, and the lowest was in West Nias Regency. Makassar City ranked 134th in terms of expenditure on unshelled peanuts. The national average per capita weekly expenditure on unshelled peanuts was Rp256.5.
