Anticipating the rising impact of the Omicron variant, 145 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week, exceeding the national average. Data from Wednesday, November 16, 2022, shows a national average of 140.83 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Bandung Barat, Deli Serdang, Gresik, Pekanbaru City, and Karawang, with 998, 964, 956, 942, and 926 people tested per week, respectively.
Bandung Barat ranks first, with 998 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 13.83 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Deli Serdang, where 964 people were tested per week in an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 11.62 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Furthermore, Gresik recorded 956 Covid-19 tests per week, Pekanbaru City 942, and Karawang 926.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid data, 197 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested per week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 153 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some regions with the highest number of people tested per week include Deli Serdang, Pekanbaru City, and Batam City, with 964, 942, and 894 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
