Public awareness of the importance of Covid-19 testing is growing. A majority are willing to undergo rapid or swab tests free of charge.
37.6% of respondents were willing to undergo Covid-19 testing because they needed to ensure their health and that they were not infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Furthermore, another 28.5% of respondents were also willing to participate voluntarily without conditions. A small percentage of the population, 8.3% of respondents, were also willing to participate if it was mandatory.
Conversely, 24% of respondents refused to take a Covid-19 test, even if it was offered free of charge. Some reasons included feeling healthy and concerns about being ostracized by the community if diagnosed with Covid-19.
The government encourages the public to adopt a new lifestyle with the 3M Movement. The hope is that people will get used to frequently washing their hands with soap, wearing masks, and maintaining physical distance.
Kompas Research and Development conducted a survey involving 529 respondents from 34 provinces in Indonesia. The confidence level of this research is 95% with a margin of error of ± 4.3%.
