With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 189 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Wednesday, April 13, 2022, shows a national average of 174.01 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Bontang City (951.65%), Tarakan City (951.13%), Fakfak (930.95%), Manokwari (919.43%), and Jayapura (907.94%).
Bontang City ranks first. With a population of 185,460, the weekly percentage of people tested is 951.65 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.64 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Tarakan City. The population of this region is 267,270. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 951.13 percent. The positive rate in this region is 0.47 percent, also down from the previous week's ratio.
Then, Fakfak with 930.95 percent testing; Manokwari, with a population of 176,240, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 919.43 percent; and Jayapura recorded a weekly testing percentage of 907.94 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 209 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 169 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Bontang City, Tarakan City, and Fakfak, with weekly testing percentages of 951.65 percent, 951.13 percent, and 930.95 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
