Based on national Covid-19 data, 161 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen testing above the national average. As of Friday, June 17, 2022, the national average was 169.88 specimens per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of specimens tested per week, are Mimika (970 specimens), Mataram City (945 specimens), Kediri (926 specimens), Blora (911 specimens), and West Bandung (896 specimens).
Mimika ranks first. With a population of 221,810, it recorded 970 specimens tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.77 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Mataram City. Its population is 527,540. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 945 specimens were tested per week. The positive rate is 0.77 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Kediri recorded 926 specimens tested per week; Blora, with a population of 866,140, recorded 911 specimens; and West Bandung recorded 896 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens tested than before. Meanwhile, 173 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens tested compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of specimens tested include Mimika, Mataram City, and East Lombok, with 970, 945, and 867 specimens respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
