Papua Has the Lowest National Level of Social Distancing Compliance

Average compliance with social distancing in Papua was only 19.2% from May 17-23, 2021. This figure was the lowest among all other provinces in Indonesia.

Maluku had the second-lowest average social distancing compliance at 56.1%. Following this were Bangka Belitung and North Sulawesi, with average social distancing compliance rates of 63.3% and 65.3% respectively.

Jakarta also ranks among the provinces with the lowest average social distancing compliance in Indonesia. The capital city is in the bottom five with a percentage of 66%.

Meanwhile, Central Sulawesi had the highest average social distancing compliance in Indonesia, at 97.6%. It was followed by Gorontalo and Bali, with average social distancing compliance rates of 95.8% and 95.6% respectively.

Maintaining distance and avoiding crowds are essential health protocols that the public must follow to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In addition, the public is urged to wear masks and wash their hands with soap when engaging in activities outside the home.
