This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a reversal from the previous period where death tolls continued to rise. This week, one country recorded an increase in deaths, while 10 others recorded fewer deaths.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia (Hrvatska), Russia, and Poland. The total deaths in these five countries as of Tuesday, May 2, 2023, amounted to 560, with a weekly growth rate above -7.89 percent.
France recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 0.75 percent. Worldometer recorded 267 deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's reported 265 deaths.
This is followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina with a weekly growth in deaths of 0 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in the country was recorded at four. Croatia (Hrvatska) recorded 25 deaths (down 3.85%), Russia saw a 5.76% decrease in deaths, and Poland a 7.89% decrease.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Germany with 409 deaths. Death reports in this country decreased by 25.5% compared to the previous week. Following this, France reported 267 deaths (up 0.75%), Russia 229 deaths (down 5.76%), Denmark 36 deaths (down 21.74%), and Poland 35 deaths (down 7.89%).
Total deaths in Europe over the past seven days were recorded at 1,049. This accounts for 48.52 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 2,162. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 1,246 deaths.
