Based on national Covid-19 data, 149 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of October 23, 2022, shows a national average of 0.44 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, ranked by the number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are: South Jakarta (4.52 people), Central Jakarta (4.32 people), Balikpapan (3.72 people), West Jakarta (3.21 people), and East Jakarta (3.2 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 4.52 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 8.96 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.32 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 9.41 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 3.72 tests per 1,000 people per week, while West Jakarta recorded 3.21 and East Jakarta 3.2.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 126 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Conversely, 156 regencies/cities reported lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (3.72 people), Mimika (2.65 people), and Badung (2.53 people) per 1,000 people per week.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
