Indonesia's Conflict-Related Deaths Lowest in 2020

The Central Statistics Agency recorded the lowest number of deaths in 2020 in the last six years. There were 481 deaths attributed to conflict in 2020.

In the last six years, the highest number of deaths due to conflict in Indonesia occurred in 2015, with 704 fatalities. The following year, this number decreased to 619. The year after that, the number of deaths decreased significantly to 497.

However, deaths increased to 568 in 2018. Subsequently, from 2019 to 2020, the number of victims decreased.

Quoting a Kemendikbud learning resource, there are four factors causing social conflict. These four factors are differences between individuals, cultural differences, differences in interests, and excessively rapid social change.
