Twitter Research: Reasons Foreign Tourists Choose Indonesia as a Travel Destination

Indonesia ranks among the top 10 most visited tourist destinations by international Twitter users from the Asia-Pacific region. Twitter's research involved over 7,500 respondents in 13 countries to analyze the most popular travel trends among Twitter users. This presents an opportunity for Indonesian tourism providers and destinations to expand their reach and appeal on Twitter.

53% of respondents who have visited Indonesia stated that "value for money" was their reason for choosing Indonesia as a travel destination. Furthermore, 27.4% of respondents cited Indonesia's historical sites and cultural heritage as their reason for visiting. Finally, 60.7% of respondents chose Indonesia for its safe and comfortable travel destinations.

The top five countries of origin for Twitter-using tourists visiting Indonesia are: 60% from Singapore, 51% from Malaysia, 21% from Australia, 19% from Japan, and 13% from South Korea.
